6 Orsman Road - Energy and Sustainability

The developer will utilise up-to-date technologies and applications to ensure that the building remains as energy efficient and as 'green' as possible.

  • Borehole technology will be used to provide a ground heat source pump which will serve to save circa 71kW that previously would have to be provided in a traditional building.
  • By utilising south-facing elevations and walls to house PVP panels, an additional 38,000kW hours will be created.
  • Sustainable materials will be utilised in construction - a large Spruce tree has recently been harvested to provide the impressive timber floor to the entrance and additional woodwork in the building. New trees have already been planted to replace this tree.
  • The building is anticipated to have a BREEAM rating of Excellent, with a planned BREEAM score of 83.75.
  • The anticipated EPC will have a rating of A.
  • The normal commercial London building utilises circa 159kWh per m2 per year for heating, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning.
  • It is anticipated that 6 Orsman Road, once the energy-saving measures are taken into account, will use 17kWh per m2 per year - nearly one tenth of a traditional building.
